New Theories Emerge in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance Case
Speculation Grows Around Suspect's Identity
The mystery surrounding the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has sparked various theories online, with a new one suggesting that the masked individual seen near her Arizona residence might be a woman. This theory gained traction after a user on X highlighted remarks made by former FBI agent Maureen O’Connell during her appearance on The Interview Room. O’Connell mentioned that her sister speculated the suspect could be female, which resonated with many.
As discussions intensified, several users pointed out what they perceived as 'feminine features' in the surveillance footage released by authorities. Some even proposed that the suspect might have been wearing additional disguises beneath the face covering and stocking cap.

One user later shared images of realistic silicone masks available for purchase online, suggesting that such disguises could easily be concealed under winter attire. Although the user expressed some skepticism about the theory, it ignited a lively debate across social media.
Many commenters supported the idea of a female suspect, noting that the individual’s eyebrows and eyelashes appeared unusually styled. Others remarked that the suspect's movements and body language did not align with typical male behavior. One user stated, 'I’ve believed from the beginning there could be a female mask involved,' while another pointed out that the suspect's positioning near bloodstains at the front door seemed inconsistent with a male attacker.
Despite the growing speculation online, law enforcement has yet to confirm the identity or gender of the individual captured on surveillance. This person, often referred to as the 'Porch Guy,' was seen outside Guthrie’s home on the day of her disappearance, dressed in gloves, khaki pants, sneakers, and a face covering.
Authorities have previously released black-and-white images and videos showing the suspect approaching the front door and appearing to tamper with a security camera. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that investigators are collaborating with the FBI and forensic experts, reviewing extensive surveillance footage related to the case. Additionally, reports indicate that the FBI is analyzing potentially crucial DNA evidence found inside Guthrie’s home, including a hair sample that was initially examined by a private lab before being sent for advanced federal testing.
