On Thursday, Nitin Nabin, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), revealed the appointment of new leaders for the party's units in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Tripura. Harsh Malhotra has been designated as the president of the BJP's Delhi unit. Meanwhile, Keval Singh Dhillon has taken over as the president of the Punjab unit, and Archana Gupta has been appointed as the head of the Haryana unit. Abhishek Debroy has been named the new president for the Tripura state unit.

From 2007 to 2017, Dhillon represented the Barnala assembly constituency as a Congress candidate. He faced defeat in 2017 against Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair and also lost to Bhagwant Mann in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Sangrur seat. He joined the BJP in 2022 and contested in the Sangrur Lok Sabha by-election and the Barnala assembly by-election in 2024, but was unsuccessful in both.
