Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case

Meghalaya honeymoon murder case: As the investigation unfolds, fresh details are surfacing in the tragic case involving the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore businessman, allegedly orchestrated by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi. Reports indicate that Sonam conspired with her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, who is believed to have hired three assassins to carry out the crime. Authorities have traced a man named Sanjay Verma, who Sonam reportedly contacted over 100 times prior to her marriage.

On Wednesday, police disclosed a significant finding: the name 'Verma' was not the true identity of the individual Sonam was communicating with, but rather a pseudonym for her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha. This revelation adds another layer to the ongoing investigation.

According to East Khasi Hills district SP Vivek Syiem, 'Sonam made more than 100 calls to someone named Sanjay Verma before marrying Raja.' The police noted that these calls persisted even after the wedding. 'Our team is currently in Indore, interviewing several individuals to determine if anyone had a motive for Raja's murder,' he added. However, Sonam's brother, Govind, stated he was unaware of anyone named Sanjay Verma.

Govind remarked, 'I have no knowledge of Sanjay Verma. I was here to show you the places where Raj worked. Nothing has been taken from here. I learned today that Sanjay's name is being mentioned.' The investigation suggests that three hitmen were dispatched by Kushwaha to execute the murder in Sonam's presence on May 23.

Raja was brutally murdered last month in Sohra, East Khasi Hills district, during their honeymoon. All five suspects, including Sonam, have been apprehended. Police conducted a reconstruction of the crime scene on Tuesday as part of their inquiry.

About nine days after their lavish wedding, Sonam and Raja traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. On May 23, they both went missing in Sohra, a picturesque hill station approximately 65 km from Shillong. Raja's body was discovered on June 2, in a severely decomposed condition. The investigation revealed that following the murder, Sonam fled the state, traveling through Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh before ultimately returning to Indore.
