Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has welcomed a new Chief Justice. Justice Alpesh Yashwant Kogje, a senior judge from the Gujarat High Court, took the oath of office on Thursday, September 10, 2026, marking the beginning of a new leadership era in the High Court.


Transfer from Gujarat High Court

Justice Alpesh Yashwant Kogje has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court after his transfer from the Gujarat High Court. The central government approved his appointment on September 5, following a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium on August 31.


Judicial Career Highlights

After completing his law studies in 1993, Justice Kogje began his legal career. He was appointed as an additional judge of the Gujarat High Court in April 2016 and became a permanent judge in March 2018. Throughout his judicial tenure, he has presided over numerous significant cases.


Notable Rulings

Before his appointment as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh, Justice Kogje was part of the bench that upheld the death sentences for 38 convicts in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blast case.
