On August 4, a fresh group of 964 devotees set off early Tuesday from the base camp in Jammu for the sacred Amarnath cave, marking the 57-day annual pilgrimage. According to officials, this is the smallest group to depart this year. They noted that after several hours of closure due to slippery roads and debris removal efforts, traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been restored, allowing the pilgrimage to proceed smoothly.

The group left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp around 3 AM in 39 vehicles, heading towards the Baltal route. With this latest departure, the total number of pilgrims who have embarked on the Amarnath Yatra from the Jammu base camp this year has reached 141,712. Officials reported that on Monday, 1,056 pilgrims set out for the journey, while 3,886 had departed on Sunday.

The annual Amarnath Yatra, which lasts for 57 days, is scheduled to conclude on August 28.
