Guwahati's New Bamboo Orchids Terminal Ready for Launch

Guwahati, Dec 16: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his two-day visit starting December 20, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the new airport terminal in Guwahati is fully prepared for its inauguration.

Sarma emphasized the terminal's distinctive design, which incorporates indigenous materials from Assam, showcasing the state's cultural heritage and commitment to sustainable architecture.

"The terminal is nearly complete. It features bamboo and foxtail orchids, making it a stunning structure," Sarma stated during an event in Lumding.

According to official sources, the Bamboo Orchids Terminal is designed to accommodate 13.1 million passengers annually, enhancing connectivity between Northeast India and Southeast Asia.

Additionally, the new terminal is expected to revolutionize cargo connectivity with advanced processing facilities.

Sarma confirmed that PM Modi will inaugurate the terminal on December 20 and participate in various official activities.

"The following day, he will visit Namrup, the BJP headquarters, and pay tribute at the recently inaugurated martyrs' memorial," the Chief Minister added.

On political issues, Sarma refuted Congress's claims of vote theft, questioning the rationale behind such accusations.

"Congress has numerous booth-level agents and workers throughout Assam. If they are present everywhere, how could anyone steal votes? Their claims of being in every household are illogical," he remarked.

He also discussed the preparations for the upcoming elections, stating that the groundwork is almost complete.

"We are nearing the finalization of candidates and alliances. We aim to provide more opportunities for women and promising youth, increasing their representation," he concluded.
