New Advanced Traffic Management System Launches on Delhi-Gurugram and Dwarka Expressways

Introduction of Advanced Traffic Management System

The Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and the Dwarka Expressway are set to implement an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS). While the system is already operational, the focus on issuing fines is currently minimal. Over the next two weeks, traffic authorities will work on raising public awareness regarding this new system. A dedicated control room has been established on the Dwarka Expressway to monitor traffic violations in real-time.

Features of the Advanced System

The Dwarka Expressway is integrated with the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, featuring AI-based cameras that can automatically issue fines for traffic violations. Additional cameras will oversee activities across both expressways, enhancing overall traffic management.

This system will ensure that any accidents are promptly reported to traffic police, allowing for immediate diversion of traffic in case of congestion.

Benefits of the System

The implementation of this system will facilitate the identification of criminals who may escape the expressway after committing offenses. The Indian Highway Management Company Limited, in collaboration with the National Highway Authority of India, has installed these surveillance cameras. A company representative stated that the system provides comprehensive monitoring of all activities on the expressways.

During testing, the ATMS demonstrated complete success, with no deficiencies noted. Rajesh Narayan, an engineer from Sector-40, emphasized that this system is expected to significantly reduce accidents, particularly among two-wheeler riders.

Awareness Campaign and Future Enforcement

According to Satyapal, the Assistant Commissioner of Police Traffic, the advanced traffic management system is now operational, but public awareness will be prioritized for the next 15 days. After this period, online fines will be issued for traffic violations.
