New Aadhaar Rules for Tatkal Train Ticket Booking Starting July 1

Changes to Tatkal Ticket Booking Process
Beginning July 1, only users verified through Aadhaar will be permitted to reserve Tatkal train tickets, as announced by the Union Ministry of Railways on Wednesday.
From July 15, it will also be necessary to use Aadhaar-based OTP authentication for online Tatkal ticket bookings.
Tatkal tickets, designed for last-minute travel, can be reserved just one day prior to the journey date.
According to a statement from the railway ministry, "Tatkal tickets purchased at computerized Passenger Reservation System [PRS] counters and via authorized agents will require OTP verification sent to the mobile number provided during booking." This requirement will also be implemented starting July 15.

The railways have stated that authorized ticketing agents will be prohibited from booking Tatkal tickets for the opening day during the first 30 minutes after the booking window opens. This restriction will be in effect from 10 am to 10:30 am for air-conditioned classes and from 11 am to 11:30 am for non-air-conditioned classes.
The ministry explained that these measures aim to curb bulk bookings during the initial moments after the booking window opens.
