Political Unification in Nepal

Kathmandu: Reports indicate that Madhav Kumar Nepal, the former Prime Minister of Nepal, along with ex-deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam, have reached an agreement to merge their political parties.

According to a joint announcement, the leaders have decided to unify the CPN (Unified Socialist) and CPN Ekata Rastriya Abhiyan, citing a "historical necessity" to consolidate the communist movement in Nepal, as reported by Republica newspaper.

The official announcement regarding this merger is set to take place on July 18 at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu.

Recently, Madhav Nepal, who leads the CPN-Unified Socialist, faced legal challenges as Nepal's anti-corruption agency charged him in a land misappropriation case.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has initiated legal proceedings against Nepal and 92 others for their alleged roles in a controversial land deal involving a private firm.
