NTA Ensures Smooth Conduct of NEET-UG Re-Exam
The Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Abhishek Singh, stated on Monday that the re-examination for NEET-UG was conducted flawlessly and without any issues. He emphasized the security measures implemented to ensure that all candidates had a fair and stress-free examination experience.
One day after the exam, Singh explained that it was crucial to restrict access to Telegram prior to the re-exam to alleviate any additional stress for the candidates. He claimed that this platform was spreading false information about paper leaks and encouraging fraudulent activities.
In a conversation with a news media outlet, he mentioned that the NTA focused heavily on maintaining security while considering the students' stress levels. He remarked, "The exam was conducted as accurately and smoothly as possible. We took every necessary step to balance security and student convenience... We collaborated with all relevant agencies to ensure that the examination was free from technical failures and maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of malpractice."
Addressing Misinformation and Fraud
To combat the spread of misinformation regarding paper leaks, Singh noted that the agency took stringent measures to block certain platforms, as they were deemed to cause unnecessary anxiety for candidates. "We were 100% confident that the papers were secure, and we had complete control over the custody chain. These platforms were indeed spreading false news about paper leaks, which heightened students' mental stress. We are dealing with 17-18-year-olds, and such rumors can lead to unnecessary worry, which is not healthy for young minds," he added.
Moreover, these platforms were promoting fraudsters who deceived individuals with fake question papers. They exploited people's anxiety and vulnerabilities to extract small sums of money, while the documents bore no relation to the actual question paper. It was essential to prevent attempts to defraud people through false rumors of leaks or system failures.
Government Action Against Misinformation
At the NTA's request, the central government ordered a temporary block on Telegram from June 16 to June 22. The NTA alleged that organized cheating rings were using this platform to mislead candidates preparing for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21.
Singh stressed that those spreading false information and fake posts to deceive the public would face strict legal action. He assured the public that the integrity of the examination was fully maintained and that there was no possibility of paper leaks.
Legal Measures Against Misinformation
He further stated that anyone disseminating false information, sharing fake videos or posts to deceive others or increase mental stress would face the full force of the law. "All such cases are under our scrutiny, and we have reported them; law enforcement agencies will take strict action against those involved... There is no possibility of any leaks in this examination," Singh concluded.
