NEET-UG 2024 Scandal: 26 MBBS Students Suspended Amid Cheating Allegations

Immediate Action Taken Against Cheating in NEET-UG 2024

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has swiftly moved to suspend 26 MBBS students implicated in cheating during the NEET-UG 2024 examination. Additionally, 14 students have had their admissions for the 2024-25 academic year revoked due to their involvement in dishonest practices, according to official sources.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) serves as a nationwide assessment for students seeking entry into medical colleges across India.

In the wake of ongoing investigations by various agencies into the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, the National Testing Agency has identified multiple instances of malpractice. Consequently, 42 candidates have been barred from participating in NEET-UG for three years—2024, 2025, and 2026.

Furthermore, nine candidates have been disqualified for the upcoming 2025 and 2026 sessions.

The status of 215 candidates who took the NEET-UG 2024 exam remains uncertain as their applications are currently under review pending further investigation, as reported by sources.

These actions stem from findings by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is actively looking into the matter.

"In light of the serious nature of these infractions and their potential to compromise the integrity of the medical education system, the NMC has instructed relevant medical colleges to immediately suspend the 26 MBBS students involved," the source stated.

The Commission has reiterated its commitment to a strict "zero-tolerance" policy regarding academic dishonesty, emphasizing its dedication to maintaining integrity, transparency, and accountability in medical admissions.

This directive arrives just ahead of the NEET-UG 2025, which is set to take place on May 4.
