NEET 2026 Faces Controversy Over Alleged Question Paper Leak
Controversy Surrounds NEET 2026
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical admissions in India is once again embroiled in controversy. A 'guess paper' has emerged from Sikar, Rajasthan, which is claimed to closely resemble the actual exam paper. This revelation has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the NEET examination.
According to sources linked to the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG), approximately 600 out of 720 marks in the NEET exam held on May 5 corresponded to questions that had been previously circulated among certain students. Investigators are now trying to determine whether this material was merely an exceptionally accurate guess paper or part of a genuine leak from the exam's question bank.
Details of the Alleged Leak
The situation has intensified as investigators assert that the order of answer choices for several questions matched the material shared prior to the exam. Reports indicate that this alleged question paper surfaced in Sikar two days before the NEET exam and was sold to students for prices ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹200,000. By the night before the exam, copies were reportedly being distributed at around ₹30,000 each.
The SOG's investigation has revealed that this suspicious document is linked to an MBBS student from Churu, who is currently studying at a medical college in Kerala. Allegations suggest that he shared this material with a friend in Sikar on May 1, after which it rapidly spread among PG housing, coaching institutes, career advisors, and candidates preparing for the exam.
Extent of the Alleged Question Paper
Investigators claim that the material contained over 300 handwritten questions from physics, chemistry, and biology, all appearing to be in the same handwriting. It is reported that around 140 questions matched those in the final exam. Given that each question in NEET carries four marks, investigators believe that if these allegations are substantiated, it could significantly impact rankings and admissions.
The investigation has also uncovered that this material was disseminated widely through encrypted messaging platforms and social media. Some chats recovered from mobile phones bore the tag 'forwarded many times,' indicating that this content may have reached a large number of candidates before the exam. Authorities are also probing whether printed copies were distributed offline, with a PG operator in Sikar coming under scrutiny.
NTA Awaits Investigation Results
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is currently awaiting the results of the Rajasthan SOG investigation before deciding on further actions. The primary focus of the inquiry is to determine the extent of the network involved, the source of the alleged 'question bank,' and whether any organized group was implicated.
Echoes of the 2024 NEET Controversy
This incident has revived memories of the NEET controversy in 2024, which saw nationwide protests over paper leaks and grace marks. Although the Supreme Court denied a re-examination last year, it mandated strict reforms in the examination system. The emergence of similar allegations for 2026 raises significant questions about the NTA's security measures. Is this merely a coincidence, or is it indicative of larger corruption? The outcome of the Rajasthan SOG investigation will determine the future of NEET 2026, leaving millions of candidates and their parents anxiously awaiting justice.
