Bengaluru: In anticipation of the Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, two-time Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra had a meeting with Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the state capital on Thursday.

Upcoming Competition on July 5
Neeraj is set to compete in the 'Neeraj Chopra Classic' scheduled for July 5 in Bengaluru. He recently regained his position as the top-ranked athlete in men's javelin throw, overtaking Grenada's Anderson Peters after a series of outstanding performances internationally.
Latest World Rankings
According to the latest update from World Athletics, Neeraj's points have risen to 1,445, surpassing Peters' score of 1,431. Pakistan's Olympic champion, Arshad Nadeem, is currently ranked fourth with 1,370 points.
Journey to the Top Spot
Neeraj had lost his top ranking to Peters in September 2024, shortly after winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics with a throw of 89.45 meters, while Peters secured the bronze.
Remarkable Performances in 2025
The year 2025 has been exceptional for Neeraj, starting with a victory at the Potch Invitational in Potchefstroom, South Africa, in April. He followed this with a notable second-place finish at the Doha Diamond League, where he achieved a personal best throw of 90.23 meters, marking his first time crossing the 90-meter mark.
Continued Success
Later in April, he secured second place at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Poland and continued his winning streak with consecutive titles at the Paris Diamond League and Ostrava Golden Spike this month, with impressive throws of 88.16 meters and 85.29 meters, respectively.
