Neeraj Chopra Celebrates Silver Medal at Commonwealth Games 2026
Neeraj Chopra's Remarkable Silver Achievement
Neeraj Chopra, the former Olympic and World Championship gold medalist in javelin throw, has hailed his silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as a significant milestone. This achievement comes after a challenging 10-month period filled with injuries and a tough recovery journey. He expressed gratitude towards his physiotherapist, coach, family, and supporters for their unwavering support, emphasizing his joy in returning to high-level competition and his commitment to progressing through the season gradually.
Historic Podium Finish for India
At the Commonwealth Games 2026, India made history in athletics with Neeraj Chopra securing the silver medal and newcomer Yashvir Singh taking home the bronze in the men's javelin throw event. This remarkable 1-2 finish for India saw Chopra achieve a best throw of 85.83 meters. Although his final attempt resulted in a foul, his earlier throw was sufficient to clinch the silver in his second appearance at the Commonwealth Games.
A Journey Beyond Distance
"There are throws that travel far, and then there are moments that carry the weight of an entire journey. This one means so much more than the distance. The past 10 months have tested me in ways I never expected. Recovering from multiple injuries, rebuilding my body, finding my rhythm again, and learning to be patient when all I wanted was to compete. I was training every day without knowing if I would even have a season to compete this year," Chopra shared in an Instagram post. Instagram Post
"To be back competing at this level feels good. None of this would have been possible without the support of those who believed in me. My physiotherapist, Ishaan ji, has been with me throughout my recovery, helping me return to my passion. My coach, Jai, has been with me since I first picked up a javelin. My family has always stood by me, regardless of the circumstances. Thank you to everyone for your support and blessings. The season continues, one step at a time," he added.
