Neeraj Chopra's Training Camp in Switzerland
As the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games approach, the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has granted Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medallist, a 47-day off-season training camp in Switzerland. This decision was made during the MOC's 173rd meeting held on Wednesday.
Chopra, who is currently recovering from a back injury in Turkey, will utilize the Olympic Training Centre in Bienne from May 25 to July 10. This training is part of his preparation for the upcoming multi-sport events, as stated in a release from the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The Commonwealth Games are set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, while the Asian Games will occur in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. Neeraj aims to continue his impressive performance, having previously secured gold medals in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games in both 2018 and 2022.
The 28-year-old athlete from Haryana will be joined by his physiotherapist, Ishaan Marwaha, and coach Jai Choudhary. The approved proposal includes coverage for travel, accommodation, and other expenses for the three-member team, such as airfare, hotel costs, meals, visa fees, extra baggage for javelins, medical insurance, and a daily allowance of USD 25 for 47 days.
