NDRF Arrives in Dhanbad Amid Local Protests

A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived in Dhanbad on Sunday to evaluate the situation concerning the toxic gas leak from underground coal mines, amidst protests from local residents.


The team visited the Rajput Basti area located in the Putki-Balihari colliery of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), which is situated approximately 15 kilometers from the district headquarters.


After inspecting the area, NDRF personnel declined to share any information with the journalists present. Prabodh Pandey, the officer in charge of the Kendua police station, stated, “The team is assessing the level of gas leakage, the types of gases being emitted, and potential methods to mitigate the situation.”
