Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is now targeting approximately 104 out of 126 assembly seats in the upcoming elections next year. Voting took place in two phases across 27 districts on May 2 and May 7, marking the first election following the delimitation of constituencies. Himanta has also shared his thoughts on this development on social media.

Political Landscape and Future Goals

Himanta expressed that the NDA is consistently progressing, while the Congress party is sinking deeper into political turmoil. He emphasized that with renewed confidence, they are moving towards the 2026 assembly elections, urging Congress to engage in self-reflection. The analysis of the Assam Panchayat elections indicates substantial support for the NDA from the Hindu community. Notably, there has also been progress within the Muslim community, with around 30% of Muslim women voters casting their ballots in favor of the NDA.
