The National Commission for Women (NCW) has initiated a suo motu inquiry following a media report that highlighted allegations made by the wife of a DMK youth wing official. She accused her husband of coercing young women into sexual relations with politicians.


Request for Investigation by NCW Chairperson

In a letter addressed to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Tamil Nadu, the NCW Chairperson called for an immediate and unbiased investigation. The correspondence emphasized the importance of safeguarding the survivor, forming an independent investigative team, and ensuring that political influences do not obstruct the process. The NCW also requested prompt actions in accordance with the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
