Naxalite Encounter in Begusarai District

In a significant operation in Begusarai district, Bihar, security forces eliminated a Naxalite with a bounty of ₹50,000. This information was disclosed by the police on Thursday.


The deceased Naxalite has been identified as Dayanand Malakar, who served as the secretary of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) for the North Bihar Central Zonal Committee.


Authorities reported that two of Malakar's associates were apprehended during the encounter.


According to a statement from the Bihar Police's Special Task Force (STF), Malakar, also known as Chhotu, was wanted in over 14 criminal cases and was killed during a clash with a joint team of the STF and district police in the Teghra area of Begusarai on Wednesday evening.


The statement further detailed that security personnel arrived at the location based on intelligence, where Malakar was hiding with his associates. Upon noticing the police, he attempted to flee and opened fire.


In the ensuing exchange, Malakar sustained injuries, while his two accomplices were taken into custody.


The police reported that Malakar was transported to a nearby government hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the security personnel during the encounter.


From the scene, authorities recovered a 5.56 mm INSAS rifle, a homemade pistol, 25 cartridges, and 15 spent shells. The statement indicated that Malakar was involved in several Naxalite incidents in North Bihar.
