The support from the fans and the quality of the ground were excellent. With a new coaching setup, we had many new strategies to learn on the field. Our primary goal was to play cohesively as a team, understand each other's strengths, and build connections."
"From the outset, our main objective was to qualify for the FIH Hockey World Cup. Additionally, achieving a high placement in the tournament was crucial for boosting the team's confidence moving forward," she added.
Kaur's Personal Reflections
Discussing her individual performance, Navneet credited her teammates and coaching staff for enabling her to showcase her skills on the field. "As a senior player, I feel a strong responsibility to lead. My aim is to leverage my strengths, whether it's creating scoring opportunities or using my dribbling skills to enhance the game. The support from my teammates and coaches instills confidence in me to play my natural game. Even if things don't go as planned, I know I can try again," she explained.
Encouragement for Young Talent
The tournament also highlighted the emergence of several young players, which Navneet believes reflects the positive atmosphere within the squad under the new coach. She remarked, "It wasn't solely about focusing on young talent; it was about providing opportunities to those who earned their spots through performance. Many youngsters excelled in the Hero Hockey India League and were selected for the senior team. They displayed the right attitude, eagerness to learn, and an understanding of team dynamics. The coaches encouraged them to play freely and focus on their strengths, which contributed to their success."
Preparing for the World Cup
