Efforts to Revive Formula 1 in India
On June 20, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) established a task force aimed at revitalizing motor sports in India, with the goal of reintroducing Formula 1 racing by the end of 2028. An MYAS source stated, "We are committed to bringing back F1 to India by 2028, and this task force will oversee motor sports and report to the Ministry."
Previously, Arindam Ghosh, President of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), participated in discussions with the Sports Ministry in New Delhi, expressing aspirations to return Formula 1 to India by 2030, along with hosting a round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) and MotoGP by 2028.
During the FMSCI Annual Awards, Ghosh remarked, "Our meeting with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State Raksha Khadse, and other key stakeholders focused on the return of F1, MotoGP, and WRC to India."
"The Federation emphasized the importance of nurturing Indian drivers and advancing the overall motorsports landscape in India, and our suggestions were positively received," he concluded.
