Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition at Dalhousie Youth Hostel

The Dalhousie Youth Hostel recently hosted a national-level Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition, a tradition maintained by the Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI) for 24 years.


This year's event, organized under the leadership of YHAI national president Rajendra Arlekar, has attracted over 300 trekkers from various regions across the country. The expedition aims to enhance adventure tourism, promote physical fitness, and foster a deeper appreciation for the Himalayan environment during winter.


On December 27, 2025, Anil Kumar Bhardwaj, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dalhousie, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He highlighted the stunning geography and historical importance of Dalhousie while flagging off the trekking team, offering encouragement and wishing them a safe journey.


Devinder Sharma, the manager of Dalhousie Youth Hostel, was also present as a special guest, extending his best wishes for a successful expedition. Key figures such as camp leader Sameer Soni and program officer Gulzar Ahmed contributed significantly to the event's organization.


This annual winter trekking expedition serves as a vital platform for young adventure seekers, promoting values like discipline and teamwork while enhancing Dalhousie's reputation as a prime destination for adventure tourism.
