Early Thursday morning, prominent Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited his memorial, 'Veer Bhumi', to offer heartfelt tributes. The Gandhi family and top Congress officials gathered at 'Veer Bhumi' for a prayer meeting, where they reflected on the supreme sacrifice made by the late leader for the country. During the ceremony, they laid floral wreaths at his memorial and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the unity and integrity of the nation.

Kharge shared a post on social media, stating, 'We pay our respects to Rajiv Gandhi, a son of India who inspired hope and aspirations in millions across the country on his martyrdom day.' He emphasized that Rajiv Gandhi laid the groundwork for India's journey into the 21st century with vision, courage, and deep faith in the nation's future. His transformative initiatives included lowering the voting age to 18, empowering local governance through Panchayati Raj, initiating the telecommunications and IT revolution, advancing computerization, achieving significant peace agreements, launching a universal vaccination program, and introducing a visionary education policy focused on inclusive education.

Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, remarked that Rajiv Gandhi's progressive vision, his ultimate sacrifice for national unity, and his simplicity will continue to inspire everyone. Rajiv Gandhi served as Prime Minister from 1984 to 1989 and was assassinated in 1991 during an election campaign in Tamil Nadu by terrorists from the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
