Special Initiatives for Voters in Nalbari

Nalbari, March 19: The district administration of Nalbari is launching special measures to assist 1,896 elderly voters, including octogenarians, nonagenarians, and centenarians, in casting their votes smoothly during the upcoming State elections. Additionally, provisions are being made for 2,837 voters with disabilities.

During a press briefing, Nalbari's district commissioner, Nibedan Das Patowary, stated that the administration is committed to offering comprehensive support to senior citizens who prefer to vote from their homes. Patowary, who also serves as the district electoral officer, noted that Nalbari comprises three Assembly segments: Nalbari, Barkhetri, and Tihu LAC.

The district boasts a total of 624,391 registered voters, with 319,884 males and 304,507 females. The breakdown of voters by LAC is as follows: 200,278 in Nalbari LAC, 219,672 in Barkhetri, and 204,441 in Tihu LAC.

A total of 825 polling stations will be established across the district, with 292 in Nalbari LAC, 269 in Barkhetri, and 264 in Tihu LAC, according to the district commissioner.

The administration has flagged 150 polling stations as 'critical' based on historical criminal activity and high voter turnout. Special arrangements are being made for polling stations situated in remote char areas of the district.

Furthermore, three model polling stations will be introduced in the district. The district has deployed 27 static surveillance teams and 27 flying squad teams to ensure smooth operations around the clock.
