Dimapur, July 11: In a significant milestone for Nagaland, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio addressed a special session at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, marking the state's inaugural official participation in this esteemed global event.
During his speech on the topic of ‘Investment, Tourism and Human Resource Opportunities in Nagaland’, Rio showcased the state's distinctive advantages as a burgeoning hub for sustainable investments and international tourism. He pointed out Nagaland's strategic position in Northeast India, which acts as a gateway to the ASEAN region, and reaffirmed the government's dedication to fostering a secure, transparent, and investor-friendly atmosphere.
“Nagaland presents a first-mover advantage in various sectors, including agri-business, eco-tourism, artisanal crafts, technology, and creative industries. We have established a robust support system that includes single-window clearances, best practices, and high implementation standards,” Rio stated.
He also emphasized the state's high literacy rate, youthful demographic, and rich cultural heritage as vital factors contributing to its growth potential.
Rio reassured international partners of Nagaland's safety and stability, particularly noting its reputation for women's security and a peaceful social environment, making it an attractive destination for tourists and investors alike.
The World Expo, which began in 1851, is one of the oldest and most prestigious international exhibitions, held every five years and featuring participation from countries worldwide. It provides a platform for nations to present their culture, innovations, and developmental aspirations to a global audience.
The 2025 edition in Osaka, themed ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, emphasizes collaboration, technology, sustainability, and inclusive growth. Nagaland's involvement in this global event aims to enhance its visibility, cultivate international partnerships, and firmly establish itself on the global stage as a vibrant region full of opportunities.
A presentation titled ‘Nagaland – The Land of Festivals: Celebrating Culture, Creating Futures’ was given by Abu Metha, the Chief Minister's Adviser and chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland.
