Nagaland's Deputy CM Encourages Public Support for Police
Support for Law Enforcement in Nagaland
Dimapur, Jan 7: Y Patton, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland and Home Minister, has called on citizens to assist the police by reporting crimes and collaborating with law enforcement, as highlighted in an official statement released on Tuesday.
During the inauguration of the new Superintendent of Police office and police barracks in Wokha, Patton brought attention to the problem of under-reporting of crimes.
He emphasized the necessity of promptly filing complaints to facilitate effective policing and ensure access to necessary resources.
Regarding police recruitment in the state, Patton reassured that the selection process would be transparent, equitable, and based solely on individual qualifications.
He commended the Wokha district police and the Superintendent for the successful establishment of the new infrastructure and acknowledged the enhanced facilities.
Patton also expressed gratitude to the land donor who provided the site for the new constructions.
In his remarks, DGP Rupin Sharma highlighted the critical role of district police as first responders, noting that the number of officially registered cases often fails to represent the actual situation due to underreporting.
He pointed out that resource allocation and future developments are closely linked to the number of reported incidents. Sharma advocated for effective police management and the enhancement of trust between law enforcement and the community.
He also stressed the need to maximize the use of the newly established facilities.
