Mystery of Missing Pragya Singh Resolved After Six Days
Pragya Singh Found Safe After Disappearance
Pragya Singh, who mysteriously vanished during her journey from Dehradun to Ghaziabad aboard the Nanda Devi Express, has been successfully located after six days of extensive efforts. The Northern Railway has released its first official statement regarding the incident, clarifying the sequence of events. On Monday afternoon, railway police handed Pragya over to her family at the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction.
Details of the Incident
According to the statement from Northern Railway, Pragya was traveling with her husband Manish on the night of May 5 in train number 12402. She went missing under suspicious circumstances near the Laksar station in Haridwar. When the train reached Muzaffarnagar station, Manish woke up to find Pragya missing. Despite searching the entire train and station, no clues were found, prompting the filing of a missing person report at the Laksar GRP police station.
Railway and Police Response
Following the rapid spread of the news on social media, the Ministry of Railways and the Northern Railway administration took immediate action. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, stated that passenger safety is the top priority for the railway. The GRP of Laksar and the railway's technical teams promptly initiated technical tracking and monitored CCTV footage from various stations. However, the poor condition of cameras at some locations between Laksar and Muzaffarnagar hindered the investigation.
Resolution in Bihar
Police and intelligence agencies were conducting raids from Uttarakhand to Uttar Pradesh in search of Pragya, while her family was understandably anxious about her safety. The case took a turn on May 11 when Pragya herself called her mother from Begusarai to inform her of her location.
Reason Behind the Disappearance
During police questioning, Pragya revealed that she had an argument with her husband on the train. After Manish fell asleep, she left the train in anger and boarded another train to Bihar without a ticket. She then went to her aunt's house in Begusarai.
Railway's Appeal to Passengers
The railway administration expressed satisfaction with the positive outcome. Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay mentioned, "Our teams worked tirelessly to ensure the passenger's safe return." The railway has urged travelers to report any emergencies, disputes, or suspicious incidents immediately to the railway helpline number 139, so that timely action can be taken. This incident not only highlights safety concerns but also draws attention to issues arising from family disputes during travel. Currently, Pragya Singh has safely returned to Ghaziabad with her family.
