Tragic Find in Nuapada

In a shocking turn of events, the decomposed body of a 38-year-old man from Bolangir was found hanging from a tree in a dense forest near Pati Dangar, close to Kerameli village, three months after he went missing. The police made this grim discovery on Tuesday under unclear circumstances.

The victim has been identified as Balaram Hati, who lived in Kumhari village under the Muribahal police jurisdiction. His wife, Binodini Hati, reported that he left home on the morning of February 12 for Nuapada with an acquaintance named Pradeep Parabhue, after which he lost all contact.

When Binodini reached out to Pradeep, he allegedly stated that Balaram had returned home by train. However, after an extensive search yielded no results, the family filed a missing person report at the Muribahal police station on February 19, prompting an investigation.

On Monday, villagers from Kerameli, while gathering firewood, stumbled upon the decaying body suspended about 50 feet above the ground from a large Bijaa tree. Alarmed, they informed other villagers, who subsequently alerted the police on Tuesday morning.

A police team, led by Nuapada Sadar IIC Gangadhar Meher, along with Fire Services personnel and Deputy Collector Hemant Puta, arrived at the scene. The body was retrieved in the presence of a magistrate and sent to the district headquarters hospital for an autopsy. To confirm the identity, the Nuapada Sadar police notified the control room.

Following this, the Muribahal police contacted Balaram's family and brought them to Nuapada. Binodini was able to identify the body as her husband's, after which the police formally returned it to the family.

The Nuapada Sadar police have initiated an unnatural death case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
