Murder of Local Leader in Punjab Raises Concerns Over Political Rivalry
Tragic Incident in Moga District
In a shocking incident in Moga district, Punjab, an unidentified assailant reportedly shot and killed a man. Authorities confirmed the details on Saturday.
According to police reports, the victim, Umarsir Singh, was attacked in Bhinder Kalan village as he was leaving his home in his car to head to work.
Singh was employed at a Nestlé facility in Moga, and the attackers fired between 10 to 12 shots at him. Law enforcement suspects that the motive behind the murder may be linked to local political rivalries.
The police indicated that Singh was over 30 years old and actively involved in village politics, serving as a leader of a labor union. DSP Jaswinder Singh from Moga stated that a police team responded promptly to the shooting incident.
He noted that the assailants arrived in a vehicle and opened fire. A team has been formed to apprehend the suspects.
In connection with the murder, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against seven individuals. Meanwhile, Pratap Singh Bajwa, a leader from the Punjab Congress unit, condemned the killing, labeling it as a clear indication of the Aam Aadmi Party's failure to maintain law and order in the state.
