Murder Mystery Unveiled: Missing Police Constable's Remains Found in Sivasagar

Discovery of Remains
Charaideo, June 14: After nearly 11 months of uncertainty, the skeletal remains of police constable Rabirul Hussain were discovered on Saturday in a pit located behind a house in Rohdoi Ali village, Sivasagar district.
Details of the Case
This grim finding concludes what authorities describe as a carefully orchestrated murder involving Hussain's second wife, her two sons, and a close family friend.
Hussain, who served with the 26th APBN (IR) in Mankachar, had returned to his hometown of Habigaon, Nimai Gaon, prior to Eid in July 2024.
He was last seen on July 27, the day he was expected to resume his duties, but he never returned.
Initially, a missing person report was lodged by his second wife, Baby Begum. However, discrepancies in her statements raised suspicions among investigators.
It wasn't until Hussain's first wife approached the police in Sivasagar, expressing her concerns about foul play, that the investigation was reopened.
Investigation Progress
Charaideo Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panesar noted that the case had stalled until the first wife's complaint led to a renewed investigation.
“We began from the ground up, employing technical surveillance and human intelligence. We arrested Baby Begum, her sons Idul and Mahfuz, and eventually Mukib Ali, the driver who had also gone missing,” SP Panesar explained.
According to police reports, Hussain's second wife's sons had given him sleeping pills before smothering and killing him.
The body was buried behind the residence of Mukib Ali, a dumper driver closely associated with the family.
After fleeing to Chennai post-murder, Mukib was apprehended by Charaideo DSP Aryan Nath.
During questioning, he admitted to the crime and directed police to the burial site, marking a significant breakthrough in the lengthy investigation.
Family's Reaction
The first wife of the constable, heartbroken by the revelations, shared the harrowing details uncovered during the investigation.
“My husband came home for Eid. When it was time for him to leave, they made excuses to stop him. They never intended for him to leave alive. The younger son gave him seven sleeping pills, and when he was unconscious, they killed him,” she recounted.
The skeletal remains have been sent for forensic examination and autopsy to confirm identity and assist in piecing together the events leading to his death.
Authorities are now proceeding with charges of murder and conspiracy against those involved.
