Murder Linked to Cousin's Love Affair in Bijnor District
Details of the Incident
In the Najibabad area of Bijnor district, a young man was allegedly murdered by his uncle, who hired contract killers for 2 million rupees due to a romantic relationship with his cousin. This information was disclosed by the police on Thursday.
Discovery of the Body
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dr. Krishna Gopal Singh, the body of Sameer, aged 25, was found on December 21 along the highway in Jalalabad, within the Najibabad police jurisdiction. The post-mortem report confirmed that he had been strangled.
Investigation and Arrests
Sameer's father, Dilshad, filed a complaint on December 23 against his brother Rafiq and Rafiq's sons, Rahat and Rafat. Singh noted that during the police investigation and analysis of electronic evidence, a person named Arshad emerged as a suspect. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that Sameer was in a relationship with his cousin, which he refused to end despite being warned and threatened. Additionally, he had a substance abuse problem.
The Conspiracy
The police reported that a few months prior, the girl's family contacted Jainul, who was involved in exorcism work in Delhi, to eliminate Sameer. Jainul demanded 2 million rupees for the job, and Rafiq paid 300,000 rupees in cash and 200,000 rupees online, with the remaining amount to be settled after the job was completed.
Execution of the Plan
ASP Singh explained that Jainul created a fake Instagram account using a woman's identity to lure Sameer. On the night of December 20, he summoned Sameer to Najibabad along with accomplices Arshad, Arif, and Salim. Upon Sameer's arrival on his motorcycle, the four men strangled him with a muffler and disposed of his body by the roadside to make it appear as though he had died in an accident. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the absconding suspects Jainul, Arif, and Salim.
