Murder Investigation Launched After Woman's Body Found Burned in Uttar Pradesh
Tragic Discovery in Jithania Village
In a shocking incident in Jithania village, located in the Amaria police jurisdiction of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, a 65-year-old woman was reportedly murdered, and her body was subsequently burned in a pile of straw to destroy evidence. Authorities have initiated an investigation and filed charges against the victim's son-in-law for murder and tampering with evidence. The suspect is currently at large.
DNA Testing Underway
Natasha Goyal, the area officer, confirmed that bones recovered from the ashes have been sent for DNA testing to ascertain whether they belong to Mohan Dei, the deceased. Official confirmation will follow once the lab results are received. The police in Amaria stated that a case was registered against the accused, Mahendra Pal, based on a complaint filed by the victim's son, Suresh Kumar, who reported the incident.
Details of the Incident
Suresh informed the police that his mother, Mohan Dei, lived alone in a separate house near the village cemetery. On the night of July 31, his brother-in-law, Mahendra Pal, visited and stayed overnight. It is alleged that Mahendra harbored resentment towards his wife’s mother, leading him to commit the murder.
According to the complaint, when Mohan Dei was missing the following day, her family began searching for her but found no leads. Despite several days of searching, there was no trace of her. On Thursday evening, while clearing the burnt straw outside their home, family members discovered charred bones and glass bangles, prompting them to alert the police about the suspected murder.
