Murder Investigation Launched After Body Found in Uttar Pradesh River
Body Discovered in Gomti River
In Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh, authorities reported the murder of an individual whose body was discovered in a river. The police announced this development on Wednesday.
According to law enforcement, the body was recovered on the same day, prompting an investigation into the incident. The event took place near the village of Khemamau Mallahan, within the jurisdiction of the Shukul Bazar police station.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Kumar Mallahan, a 45-year-old resident of the village. Police stated that he had left his home on Tuesday evening, and when he did not return, his family began searching for him. On Wednesday morning, family members and locals alerted the police after finding a sandal and bloodstains along the banks of the Gomti River.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Upon arriving at the scene, police, with the assistance of local residents, retrieved the body. Atul Kumar Singh, the area police chief from Musafirkhana, confirmed that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and an investigation is underway.
He stated, 'Necessary actions will be taken following the post-mortem report.'
