Tragic Incident in West Garo Hills

Shillong, June 28: A recent murder case in Didapara village, West Garo Hills, bears a striking similarity to the notorious Raja Raghuvanshi case. A woman is accused of murdering her husband with the assistance of her lover and others last month.

Thurendro Ch Sangma, the uncle of the deceased, revealed that his nephew, Pirot R Marak, had repeatedly confronted his wife, Nennen R Marak, about her alleged affair with Reknan K Sangma, a local resident. The couple has three children, aged between 6 and 13 years.

Efforts were made by both families to mediate the ongoing disputes between the couple. Just a day before the murder, family members convened after Nennen had eloped with Reknan for four days before returning home. Tragically, the following day, Pirot was found dead.

Following the incident, the victim's family and local villagers suspected foul play, leading to the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Tikrikilla Police Station on May 7.

Subsequently, authorities obtained a court order to exhume the body, and the post-mortem examination revealed injuries to the victim's neck and private areas. As a result, Nennen, her lover, and two of her brothers, Sengba R Marak and Lepson R Marak, were apprehended on June 24.

According to the uncle, Nennen operates a grocery store in the village while Pirot worked as a farmer. The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear if additional individuals were involved in the crime.
