Weather Conditions in Mumbai

Mumbai: The city is set to experience overcast skies along with moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday, May 28. Following the arrival of the first monsoon showers on May 26, the weather in Mumbai has become quite pleasant. The southwest monsoon made its initial landfall in Kerala on May 25, subsequently moving towards Karnataka and Maharashtra, leading to significant rainfall across the state. Areas such as Khar, Colaba, and Marine Drive have been reported to be heavily drenched. While the rain has brought a refreshing change, it has also resulted in waterlogging in several locations, affecting daily activities.

Weather Forecast for Mumbai on May 28:


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted moderate to heavy rainfall for both the city and its suburbs on Wednesday. There is a chance of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in isolated areas. The sky is expected to remain predominantly cloudy.


The anticipated maximum and minimum temperatures are around 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.


·  North Maharashtra: Expect moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers at most locations.


·  Marathwada: Isolated locations may see moderate rainfall/thundershowers.


·  South Madhya Maharashtra: Moderate to heavy rain is likely in several areas.

Additionally, the forecast for May 31 to June 1 suggests partly cloudy skies with potential rain or thunderstorms, and a rise in maximum temperatures to 33.0°C.


The Southwest Monsoon is actively affecting the subcontinent, with its Northern Limit now reaching significant areas, including Mumbai, Pune, Kalaburagi, Mahbubnagar, and Agartala, among others.

In a recent update, the IMD reported on the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon. They stated, “Conditions are favorable for the continued progression of the Southwest Monsoon into the remaining parts of the central Arabian Sea, additional areas of Maharashtra, parts of Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, most of west-central regions, and parts of North Bay of Bengal, as well as the remaining northeastern states and parts of West Bengal and Sikkim over the next 2-3 days.”
