Mumbai Singer's Boyfriend Arrested for Stealing Jewelry and Cash
Shocking Theft in Mumbai
In a startling incident in Mumbai, the economic hub of India, a woman's boyfriend turned out to be the thief. A case emerged from the Sakinaka area where approximately ₹30 lakh worth of jewelry and cash was stolen from a singer's residence. The police have apprehended the woman's boyfriend, identified as 43-year-old Mazhar Ansari.
Jewelry Purchased from Hard-Earned Money
According to police reports, the 35-year-old victim hails from Kolkata and has been residing in Mumbai for the past 16 years. She works as a singer in a bar located in Sakinaka. The victim had accumulated gold and silver jewelry along with around ₹35 lakh in cash from her earnings. On the evening of April 12, she left for work, and upon returning home around 1:30 AM, she discovered her belongings scattered and her valuables missing. Subsequently, she filed a theft complaint against an unknown individual at the Sakinaka police station.
Accused Knew About Victim's Wealth
During the investigation, authorities learned that Mazhar was fully aware of the woman's savings. He frequently asked her for money, but she had recently refused to lend him any. With the help of a tip-off, police tracked Mazhar's location to Ghatkopar and arrested him. During questioning, he confessed to the crime, admitting that he used a key to the singer's home to carry out the theft. The police recovered jewelry worth ₹27 lakh from his possession. The local court has remanded the accused into police custody, and the case is being further investigated by a team led by Senior PI Sunil Yadav and PSI Suhas Kande.
