Fraudulent Salary Payments Uncovered in Mumbai Police

Mumbai, August 4 - Between 2019 and 2020, the Mumbai police department inadvertently disbursed ₹6.41 crore in salaries to ten fictitious employees, as revealed by officials. This irregularity came to light during the transfer of salary records.

Investigations indicated that ten individuals were repeatedly listed as employees in the Northern Regional Division, despite not being part of the police force. Salaries were being deposited monthly into bank accounts opened under their names. Consequently, five department employees are now facing legal action. According to officials, these unauthorized salary payments primarily occurred during two periods: from December 2019 to February 2020 and from June to September 2020.

The names of the fictitious employees mentioned in the FIR include Ramdas Bhogle, Sudhakar Kadam, Sarju Yadav, Bhagwat Bhosale, Gunaji Khawkar, Mahadev Haladankar, Rajendra Sonar, Uttam Thorat, Surya Kant Patil, and Pandurang Kadam. Legal action has been initiated against five officials who were in service during the alleged scam. The FIR lists former administrative officer Ramkishan Goswami, Nagesh Talwadekar, and Vijaya Chavan, along with head clerk Ajay Rathod and senior clerk Amol Meshram.
