Bomb Threat Received by Mumbai's Mayor

Mumbai's Mayor, Ritu Tawde, has been targeted with a bomb threat via her official email account, prompting the local police to initiate an investigation. The threatening email alleges that the Mayor's office, Mumbai Metro, schools, and the stock market are potential targets for bomb attacks, with claims that explosions will occur before August 15. Reports indicate that the email contained pro-Khalistan slogans and mentioned specific individuals, warning people against sending their children to school or using the metro.

Previous Threats and Ongoing Investigations

This is not the first instance of such threats directed at the Mayor of Mumbai. Tawde has previously received two similar threatening emails. Following the latest threat, police officials have commenced an investigation. Cyber police may examine the email's IP address and source to trace the sender's identity. Earlier, authorities confirmed a bomb threat at Navi Mumbai International Airport in June, which led to a formal complaint and subsequent investigation.

Concerns Arise from Airport Bomb Threat

The message written in English claimed that a bomb was placed within the airport premises, urging immediate evacuation of individuals. This warning raised alarms among officials and caused panic in the surrounding area. Following a complaint from an airport employee, the airport police station registered a non-cognizable offense against the individual linked to the threatening email and mobile number. Sub-Inspector Ramesh Patil is overseeing the investigation to identify the sender of this message.
