Mumbai Indians Make a Strategic Move

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially brought on board leg-spinner Raghu Sharma to fill the gap left by Vignesh Puthur, who is unable to continue in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season due to an injury.


According to a recent announcement, Puthur is dealing with bone stress reactions in both of his shins. The franchise has stated that he will remain with the team to focus on his recovery and rehabilitation alongside the Mumbai Indians Medical and Strength & Conditioning team.

Vignesh Puthur made a significant impact during his match against CSK, where he achieved impressive figures of 3/32. He has since participated in four additional matches, totaling five T20 games, and has secured six wickets with an economy rate of 9.08.


Originating from Mallapuram, Kerala, the left-arm wrist spinner made his IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians prior to playing senior representative cricket for his state.


He was discovered by MI scouts while competing in the Kerala T20 League. In his debut match against CSK in Chepauk, he successfully dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Deepak Hooda.



Introducing Raghu Sharma


Raghu Sharma, born on March 11, 1993, in Jalandhar, Punjab, is a right-arm leg-break bowler who has played for both Punjab and Puducherry in domestic cricket.


In his 11 first-class matches, Sharma has taken 57 wickets with an impressive average of 19.59, boasting best bowling figures of 7/56. In List A cricket, he has achieved 14 wickets in 9 matches, with his best figures being 4/37. Additionally, he has participated in 3 T20 matches, where he has claimed 3 wickets.


This will mark Sharma's first experience in the IPL, and he joins the Mumbai Indians at a base price of INR 30 lakhs.


Currently, MI is enjoying a five-match winning streak and is set to face RR on May 1 in Jaipur.
