The Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially brought on board South African spinner Keshav Maharaj to fill the void left by Mitchell Santner, who is sidelined for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to a shoulder injury.


In a statement, the Mumbai Indians confirmed Maharaj's signing, stating, "Keshav Maharaj has been signed as a replacement for Mitchell Santner, who will miss the rest of IPL 2026 following a left shoulder injury sustained in the last match."


Maharaj's Impressive T20 Record

The franchise expressed their best wishes for Santner's recovery and hopes to see him back on the field soon. Maharaj is recognized as one of South Africa's leading spinners across all formats. Since his international debut in 2016, he has been a reliable figure in the Proteas lineup, known for his precise bowling and ability to apply pressure on batsmen.


Notably, he was included in South Africa's squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup despite not having played a T20 international prior. He made his T20 debut as captain against Sri Lanka, where he claimed a wicket with his very first delivery.
