Mumbai Indians Begin Pre-Season Training
The Mumbai Indians, who have clinched the IPL title five times, officially started their pre-season training on Monday. This marks the inaugural session for the IPL 2026 season, led by head coach Mahela Jayawardene. He was accompanied by bowling coaches Paras Mhambrey and Lasith Malinga, fielding coach Carl Hopkinson, along with the complete strength and conditioning and physiotherapy teams.

Mahela Jayawardene expressed his excitement about the first day of training, stating, "The first day of pre-season is always special. The players arrive, and the energy is palpable. Our goal is to start strong. We have seasoned players who understand this franchise well, alongside some promising new talents."
"The first session is crucial as it sets the tone for the entire season. We want everyone to feel the commitment from the outset, in our training, preparation, and support for one another. While the first day is thrilling, it also marks the beginning of serious work towards our goals," he added.
Initial Player Arrivals and Training Session
The first batch of players to join the training includes Shardul Thakur, Mayank Markande, Allah Ghazanfar, Naman Dhir, Raja Angad Bawa, Robin Minz, Raghu Sharma, Mayank Rawat, Danish Malewar, Mohammad Izhar, and Ashwani Kumar.
The session commenced with a well-structured fitness and conditioning segment, where the strength and conditioning team engaged the players in movement drills, agility exercises, and fitness evaluations.
The remaining squad members are anticipated to arrive in the upcoming days as preparations ramp up ahead of the tournament.
