Mumbai Indians Face Defeat Against RCB in IPL 2026 Match
Mumbai Indians vs RCB: A Tough Match
In the IPL 2026, the Mumbai Indians clashed with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last night. Unfortunately for Mumbai, they lost the match by 18 runs. RCB set a challenging target of 240 runs, while Mumbai could only manage 222 runs in response, resulting in their defeat.
Mumbai Indians had started the IPL 2026 on a high note with a victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their opening match. However, they have since faced three consecutive losses.
Ashwin Analyzes Mumbai's Loss
Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his insights on why the Mumbai Indians struggled in this match. On his YouTube channel, he criticized captain Hardik Pandya's leadership during the game against RCB. Ashwin pointed out that Pandya made poor decisions, particularly when Rajat Patidar came to bat.
Everyone knows Patidar excels against spin bowlers, yet Pandya handed the ball to Mayank Markande at that crucial moment. This decision allowed Patidar to score 53 runs off just 20 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes.
Ashwin's Critique of Pandya's Captaincy
The star spinner of the Indian team, Ravichandran Ashwin, did not hold back in his criticism of Hardik Pandya on his YouTube channel. He stated,
“Rajat Patidar is known for hitting big shots against spin bowlers. When he came to bat, you handed the ball directly to Mayank Markande.”
Ashwin further elaborated,
“We need to consider what was going through Markande's mind. Patidar had previously dominated him in Hyderabad. When Patidar came in, you immediately gave him the ball. That was a poor decision. It was shocking. There is a significant difference between 210 and 240 runs. Mumbai's spinners conceded 80 runs in just 6 overs.”
