Mumbai Indians Strengthen Their Squad

During the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction held in Kochi, the Mumbai Indians (MI) made significant additions to their team by acquiring batter Disha Kasat, wicketkeeper-batter Latika Inamdar, and spinner Bharti Rawal, each for Rs 10 lakh.

Player Highlights and Contributions

Disha Kasat, an uncapped player who previously played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), joined MI at her base price. She has been a standout performer for Vidarbha in domestic competitions, notably scoring an impressive 66 runs off 52 balls in a recent match against Punjab during the Senior Women's T20 Trophy in Lucknow.

Wicketkeeper-batter Latika Inamdar also joined MI for Rs 10 lakh, contributing a quick 17 runs off eight balls in the same match. Her partnership with Kasat was crucial as they reached 119 for five while chasing 151 runs. Inamdar's fielding skills are expected to enhance the team's overall performance. Additionally, uncapped spinner Bharti Rawal was secured for Rs 10 lakh.

Other Franchise Movements

In related news, UP Warriorz (UPW) made headlines by signing Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux for Rs 1.10 crore. Molineux, who played a pivotal role in RCB's championship win in 2024, was the subject of a bidding war between UPW and RCB before UPW ultimately secured her.

Furthermore, Grace Harris returned to UPW for Rs 30 lakh after previously being part of RCB's title-winning squad in 2026. UPW also acquired Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana for her base price of Rs 30 lakh, while Ireland's Orla Prendergast was signed by Gujarat Giants (GG) for the same amount. Notably, Sri Lanka's captain Chamari Athapaththu went unsold in the auction.
