In light of the heavy rainfall, non-essential government offices have been instructed to operate for only half a day. Citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated with official information.

1. The heavy downpour and waterlogging have disrupted operations on the Western Railway, affecting train services between Mumbai and South Gujarat.
2. Due to submerged tracks, over 20 long-distance trains were stranded at stations like Virar, Vangaon, Palghar, Dahanu Road, and Valsad.
3. More than 40 train services were impacted; at least 10 trains were canceled, eight had their schedules altered, and several others were rerouted or halted midway.
4. Train movements on the Vasai Road-Virar and Safale-Palghar sections were severely affected due to flooding.
5. Some areas in Palghar district received nearly 300 mm of rain in just two hours, worsening the flood situation by 9 AM.
6. Major long-distance trains affected included the Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, Bandra Terminus-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express, Dadar-Porbandar Saurashtra Express, and Bandra Terminus-Amritsar Express.

Traffic has been stopped on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway between the connecting link and missing link sections due to a fallen concrete pillar on the road.

IMD scientist Dr. Shashikant informed a news agency that the western coast, including Gujarat, Saurashtra, coastal Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, and Kerala, is expected to experience 'very heavy' to 'extremely heavy' rainfall today. A 'red' alert has been issued for Gujarat, coastal Maharashtra, and coastal Karnataka, where over 21 cm of heavy rain is anticipated in some areas. In and around Mumbai, over 20 cm of very heavy rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours. The ghats of central Maharashtra, including Pune and Mahabaleshwar, also experienced significant rainfall, with some areas in Mahabaleshwar recording between 40 to 50 cm. Another area of concern is Chhattisgarh and its surroundings, where a 'red' alert has been issued due to a depression in southern Jharkhand, leading to expectations of very heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh.
