Mumbai Cricket Association Celebrates Excellence at Annual Awards Ceremony
A Night of Recognition for Mumbai Cricket
On Wednesday, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) hosted a spectacular awards ceremony in Mumbai, honoring exceptional performances from the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. This event celebrated the athletes who contribute to Mumbai's illustrious cricketing heritage and inspire future generations of players.
Honoring Senior Cricketers
The event highlighted remarkable achievements at the senior level, with Siddhesh Lad and Shardul Thakur receiving the prestigious Justice Tendolkar Trophy for Best Senior Cricketer for the 2025-26 and 2024-25 seasons, respectively, acknowledging their significant contributions.
Celebrating National and Domestic Achievements
In a proud moment for Mumbai cricket, the MCA recognized Ayush Mhatre, who captained the Under-19 Men's World Cup-winning team, along with other local players and coaches involved in India's recent World Cup successes. This included captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube from the Men's T20 World Cup-winning team, as well as Sanika Chalke from the Under-19 Women's World Cup-winning squad, among others, showcasing Mumbai's vital role in national cricket.
The MCA also celebrated its dominance in domestic cricket during the 2024-25 season by honoring champion teams that secured major titles, such as the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, emphasizing the association's consistent excellence across various formats.
Nurturing Future Talent and Honoring Legends
Continuing its commitment to developing young talent, the MCA awarded the Sharad Pawar Scholarships for the 2024-25 season to recipients including Naman Pushpak and Neeraj Dhumal. For the 2025-26 season, scholarships were granted to Shreyas Khilare and others.
The ceremony also recognized cricket legends with Lifetime Achievement Awards, honoring Shobha Pandit and Shrikant Tigdi for 2025-26, and Chandrakant Patankar and Ravindra Savant for 2024-25, celebrating their decades of dedication to Mumbai cricket.
