Incident of Alleged Police Misconduct

On July 27, in Mumbai, comedian Raunak Rajani accused the police of using excessive force against his wife during a student protest at Shivaji Park the previous week. He stated that a police officer pushed his wife, resulting in a broken rib. Raunak shared a video on social media that purportedly shows the events leading up to the alleged mistreatment.


He explained, “A police officer broke my wife's rib. On July 22, during the protest at Shivaji Park, both my wife and I were taken into custody by the police under questionable circumstances.” Raunak further detailed, “They forcibly shoved us into their vehicle. I experienced a jolt to my neck, while my wife began to feel pain in her ribs.”


Despite their visit to the Shivaji Park police station, no formal complaint was filed regarding the incident.


Mumbai police have yet to respond to these allegations.
