Exciting News for MSRTC Employees This Diwali

Mumbai – A significant announcement has been made for employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), the largest state-run public transport entity in the country. On Thursday, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik revealed that all MSRTC staff will receive a Diwali bonus of ₹10,000 this year. Additionally, there will be a 2% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA), raising it from 58% to 60%.

This crucial decision will directly benefit approximately 83,000 employees of the state transport corporation. The announcement was made during a meeting held at the Transport Commissioner’s office in Bandra, attended by representatives from various MSRTC employee unions. The minister also mentioned that eligible employees will receive an advance of ₹12,500 for the festive occasion. The increase in bonus and DA is expected to impose an additional financial burden of around ₹160 crores on the corporation.

Minister Sarnaik emphasized that despite the financial challenges faced by the corporation, the state government remains fully committed to ensuring the happiness of its employees during the Diwali festival. He stated that MSRTC officials and staff work tirelessly around the clock to provide safe travel for millions of passengers, making the Diwali bonus not just a gesture of goodwill but a rightful entitlement.

Notably, with a fleet of around 15,000 buses, MSRTC transports approximately 5.5 million passengers daily to their destinations. The minister urged employees to refrain from any protests or strikes, highlighting that such actions cause significant inconvenience to ordinary passengers who rely entirely on state transport services. The government and the corporation are continuously working to resolve employee issues through dialogue and improve the financial situation of MSRTC.
