MS Dhoni's Post-IPL Fishing Retreat and Future Plans

Dhoni's Relaxing Fishing Trip

Following a disappointing finish for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025, where they landed at the bottom of the points table, MS Dhoni was spotted enjoying a fishing trip. A photo of him sporting a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase 'Duty, Honour, Country' quickly gained traction online, highlighting his deep admiration for the Indian Army.

CSK's Challenging Season

This season proved to be particularly tough for CSK, as they managed only four victories out of 14 matches, marking their first-ever last-place finish despite their storied history in the IPL. Dhoni stepped in as captain after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined due to injury. He scored 196 runs with a strike rate of 135.17 and an average of 24.50, though many fans felt he should have batted higher in the order.

Dhoni's Connection with the Indian Army

Throughout his career, Dhoni has shown immense respect for the armed forces. He holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, a title he received in 2011. In 2019, he even underwent paratrooper training and served with the Victor Force in Kashmir for 15 days.

Future Uncertain for Dhoni

There has been much speculation regarding Dhoni's retirement from the IPL. However, he refrained from making any definitive statements after CSK's final match, indicating that he would take a break of 4 to 5 months to assess his physical condition before deciding on his future.

Gaikwad Set to Lead CSK Again

Dhoni did confirm that Ruturaj Gaikwad will return as captain for CSK in IPL 2026, expressing confidence that the team will be more balanced next season. Gaikwad's absence in IPL 2025 was due to an elbow injury, which led to Dhoni taking on the captaincy role this year. CSK concluded the season with a victory in their final league match in Ahmedabad, providing a much-needed morale boost for the upcoming season.
