Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star MS Dhoni has departed for Hyderabad in preparation for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) scheduled for Saturday. Following two consecutive victories at home, CSK is eager to secure a third win, this time on the road, while SRH aims to defend their home ground. So far this season, SRH has managed to win two out of five matches.
Fitness Status and Injury Concerns
There is uncertainty regarding Dhoni's participation in the match against SRH due to a calf strain that has kept him sidelined throughout the tournament. The two-week recovery period announced by CSK has now elapsed.
Prior to the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chepauk Stadium, Dhoni engaged in light practice sessions. At 44 years old, he is gradually working towards regaining full fitness.
Reports from ESPNCricinfo indicate that during practice, Dhoni has not yet batted at full intensity and has primarily faced throwdowns from batting coach and former CSK player Michael Hussey. Notably, he has not practiced wicketkeeping during these sessions and did not travel with the team for previous away matches in Guwahati and Bengaluru, nor did he attend home match days at Chepauk.

In a pre-match press conference before facing Punjab Kings (PBKS), CSK head coach Stephen Fleming emphasized Dhoni's significant role within the team. He stated, "It is just a game without him. He is still heavily involved in the side, and his influence remains very strong."
