Mrunal Thakur's Stand Against Deepfake Content

New Delhi, August 4 – Actress Mrunal Thakur has declared her intention to take legal action if she encounters any deepfake material featuring her likeness online. She condemned the spread of such content as "illegal and unacceptable." In an Instagram story shared on Tuesday, Thakur issued a formal notice to users creating content using images resembling her.

She stated, "Creating or sharing deepfake content using an image that resembles me is illegal and unacceptable." Thakur further emphasized, "Using my image or identity to create or share deepfake material is against the law and should cease immediately. Consider this my formal notice.

If my identity is misused in any way, I will pursue legal action." The emergence of deepfake videos and images of celebrities on online platforms has raised significant concerns. Numerous artists, including Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt, have fallen victim to such deepfake content. Recently, Mrunal Thakur appeared alongside Varun Dhawan in her film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai,’ where she portrayed the character ‘Bani.’
